Now let us proceed, evolutionarily speaking, several more thousands
of years. (See Figure 3 above.) … This is a specialized case
in which there is an excessive development of the intellect. This
person is highly intellectual. The cerulean blue is deep devotion
to his pursuits. I would place this man as a highly developed
scientist with a devotional quality to his scientific research-with
a stupendous mentality. But he is not devoid of higher unselfishness,
spiritual qualities. Perhaps he is working in his scientific world,
let us say, for the good of humanity, and knows he is working
for the good of the whole. He is not at all devoid of love. Underneath
all of this brilliant mentality he has strong love force. He's
almost sexless, passion has gone out of his consciousness. It
is no longer reflected in his psyche. But the fear is still there
in the south half. The green in his psyche indicates universality,
adaptability, which is sort of non-selfish or all inclusive. But
notice, the green is tinged with the gray of fear-perhaps fear
of losing his possessions, Some selfishness is still there, in
the south half. He is not entirely emancipated from the human
weaknesses that we all have of fear and loss, and a large degree
of self-seeking,-in the brilliant mentality, still self-seeking.
In one approaching Mind Level (No figure for illustration is provided
for this one.) such a change has taken place in his individualizing
process that we can no longer see the pneumatic ovum, because
the psychic nature has become so purified of lower, grosser qualities.
His intellect has almost expanded to the point of the ability
to grasp universal, eternal verities. His whole nature has been
focused until the forces by which the psychic nature functions
have been brought up and begin to ray through the crown, the thousand-petaled
lotus, the crown center.
He's awakened the dynamic force of the sacral-conarial axis, or
is on the eve of awakening it. All of the forces of generation
that have heretofore dominated now have become regenerated. That
is, his forces have been directed to the Mind Level. These psychic
forces pour through the crown center into that pneumatic ovum,
until the pneumatic ovum itself becomes highly charged with higher
qualities, with the energy that is pouring through the conarial
center. His energies have been regenerated, not exhausted or spent
or dissipated in generation. He's conserved his psychic dynamic
forces and directed them to something higher. That something higher
is the Mind, the Power-to-be-conscious on the Mind Level, the
Christ consciousness, if you want to put it in religious and biblical
terminology. This psychic man is obeying the scriptural injunction,
"Let that Mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus Our
Lord." Not intellect now, Mind. The referent for Mind is
knowing without thinking.
You don't destroy the intellect or the cortical functions to get
Mind consciousness-anything but. At the animal level, simple recepts
repeated and repeated become bundled. Eventually one bundle of
recepts becomes a percept. Animals and animalized man function
in sense perception, until finally bundles of sense perception
become one concept. In man, if functioning intellectually with
his concepts, ideas, and opinions is carried far enough the intellect
is developed. Again, when enough bundles of concepts are formed
they become one intuitional awareness. So it is not by the destruction
of the intellect but by its development that accumulated knowledge
is bundled by the consciousness into immediacy of knowing.
Doctors who have diagnosed symptoms year in, year out, every day,
every day, diagnosed and diagnosed, can immediately recognize
the signs of different kinds of diseases. A patient may enter
their office for the first time, but with one glance, one look,
such a doctor can make a diagnosis. The years and years of conceptual
functioning have become intuitional knowing. That's the way we
get intuition-the hard way. We do not get it "out of the
blue," or because angels are floating around giving it to
us, etc. We must work at this growth and development. I mean work
at it. And it's a he-man's job!
Let us return to the psychic man described earlier. This one has
worked through until he won't waste and spend his force seeking
pleasure. He's sought pleasure until he's gotten fed up, ennui
has set in. He might say, "I can't find anything in it any
more. I'm under no illusion about it." [Such a one might
manifest a psyche similar to the one shown in Figure 3.] That
one is ready to go on, and he'll work to direct his force up.
Where does this psychic force of generation go? It pours into
the pneumatic ovum until that pneumatic ovum becomes so highly
charged that the periphery bursts. At that point he is on the
eve of becoming a conscious Be-ing on the immortal, eternal level
of consciousness. He's becoming an Awakened One. When the periphery
of his field, his ovum, is pierced, he will become a member of
a Great Order, the Illuminati. There is the destiny of all growth
and development through the psychic world.
Next he goes through what is called the second death. When he
brought all of his forces up and rendered them to the Christ he
had to go through the first death, the utter and complete death
to sense life. He no longer was limited, cabined, and confined
within his five physical senses. He went beyond that and died
to sense life. Then how did he function when he no longer used
his physical senses? His higher developed psychic force, registry
of frequency vibration, governed the way he functioned. Let me
use an illustration with which most of us are familiar.
Remember when you could only know through your 'physical' senses:
touch, hearing, sight, taste, smell? You didn't know anything
unless you knew it by sensation. Do you also remember when you
began to know by the way the frequencies, influences, and forces
registered upon you? Why, of course. You all do. I'm not talking
about something remote and difficult. Haven't you gone into a
home and thought, "Oh, it's chilly." The temperature
might be up to hundred, but you could feel, "It's so chilly
here." See, there's a chill in the atmosphere. How did you
know it? You didn't see it or taste it; you didn't smell or hear
or touch it, but you registered the frequency.
Here is another example. You might meet a person for the first
time. You never saw that person before, but you feel, "Oh,
my, where have you been all my life? I've known you forever."
You sense that you are old friends who go right together. No physical
senses were involved, but you knew. During the transition between
functioning by sense and functioning by psychic influence, frequency
registration, often you will allow your own mentality to argue
you out of [what you feel-know, even though your feel-knowing
is correct].
I can tell you one such instance. I had a room in a house when
I was teaching in Berkeley, California. The man of the house was
named John, a hard-headed business man. His wife, Mary, was an
esthetic person, an accomplished painter and musician, very sensitive.
One day John phoned from his office.
"Mary, I'm bringing a businessman home with me. We've got
a real deal on and I want you to have a nice dinner and we're
going to discuss our deal."
Mary prepared a nice dinner. After dinner, there were cigars and
coffee and discussion. The man went home late, and John turned
to Mary and said, "Mary what do you think of him, and what
do you think of this deal?"
Mary said, "John don't go into that deal, and John, don't
go into that deal with that man."
"Oh, now listen little woman, it's a lead-pipe cinch. We've
got it all tied up. There is no way for it to fail."
"John, please, don't go into that deal with that man."
"Now, Mary, that's all right. Just tell me why. Give me the
reasons." And John reeled out all his reasons in favor of
the deal again. Then he said to Mary, "Just tell me why."
"Just because. Because just don't do it."
There were years I used to laugh at that "because."
But I don't any more. It's because that's the way I register it,
that's the way those forces affect me, and those forces never
deceive me. When I register those influences and forces from a
person or a situation or a proposition, they never fail, they
don't lie. They are true-because I register them. I know right
that very moment. That is a woman's "because." I pay
strict attention, because I know they register and feel something
that my intellect can't get. The intellect's way of figuring things
out is to do it all logically.
Now here's the aftermath. John went into the deal with that man.
It wasn't very many weeks until the day came. John came home utterly
broken and dejected, and he said, "Mary, we're going to have
a hard time saving our home. They may take the whole thing away
from us. It's that man. He did it. He took me to the cleaners."
See? How did Mary know? I'm trying to illustrate one simple thing-the
transition from functioning under and in the limitation of sense
perceptions to functioning in the frequency world on the psychic
level.
But be careful now. Don't think that every frequency from the
psychic world is all beautiful. Far from it! We have to learn
discrimination in the psychic world just as we have learned it
in the objective world. We have learned sanitation and hygiene
objectively speaking. We also have to learn sanitation and hygiene
in the psychic world, and to sharply differentiate between deleterious
or destructive forces and frequencies and beneficial, constructive
frequencies. That's what Mary did in the story. She sharply differentiated
between constructive, higher creative frequencies and destructive
influences and forces. We must learn to find our way around in
the psychic world and then surmount it and pass beyond it. To
function in the psychic world we must die to sense. We function
by frequency influences.
Once the Mind Level state is reached we go through the second
death spoken of in the Christian Bible. The psychic world disappears.
The perfected one on the Mind Level (See Figure 4 below) has no
psychic nature at all. If he has occasion to function in the psychic
world he can do it by focusing consciousness in the qualities
by which the psychic nature is characterized (personal feelings,
desirings, lovings, etc.). If he focuses his consciousness in
those qualities, he instantaneously creates a psychic body. The
moment he relaxes and goes back to his Mind Level functioning,
his psychic nature disappears. One who has reached this state
of consciousness has no psychic nature. He has gone through the
second death. He has died to the frequency world, or he has gone
to a level where the frequencies are so exceedingly high that
it's all clear knowing.
We are now ready to deal with this thing that we call the psychic
nature. Four methodologies of dealing with it will be our next
topic.
